RRB Technician Syllabus and Exam Pattern
The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) has initiated the recruitment process for Technician Grade-I (Signal) and multiple Technician Grade-III positions under CEN No. 02/2024. Candidates aspiring for these roles should thoroughly understand the syllabus and exam pattern to ensure effective preparation.
The recruitment procedure comprises two stages of Computer-Based Tests (CBTs), followed by Document Verification and a Medical Examination for candidates who are shortlisted. Recruitment Process
The recruitment process shall comprise the following stages:
Computer-Based Test (CBT) – Conducted in two phases: CBT-1 and CBT-2.
Document Verification (DV) – Verification of academic and professional qualifications and other relevant documents.
Medical Examination (ME) – Assessment of candidates’ medical fitness for the applied post as per railway standards.

RRB Technician Computer Based Test (CBT) Syllabus
Separate CBT for each pay level.
(A) Pattern & Syllabus of CBT for Pay Level-5 post i.e., Technician Gr I Signal
(i) Total Duration: 90 min & Total Questions: 100
(ii) There shall be negative marking @1/3rd marks for each wrong answer.
(iii) Normalization of marks will be done for CBT held in multiple shifts.
(iv) Minimum pass percentage for eligibility: UR & EWS-40%, OBC(NCL) – 30%, SC30%, ST-25%. These percentages may be relaxed by 2% for PwBD candidates in case of shortage.
(v) The marks scored in CBT shall be counted for shortlisting of candidates for further stages of this recruitment process.

Document Verification (DV) Process:
(a) Candidates will be shortlisted for Document Verification based on their performance in the CBT for the relevant Pay Levels. The number of candidates selected for document verification will match the total number of vacancies available.
(b) If two or more candidates obtain the same score, their merit rank will be determined according to age, with the older candidate being given preference over the younger candidate.
(c) The final appointment of selected candidates is contingent on passing the mandatory Medical Fitness Test conducted by the Railway Administration, along with the final verification of all essential documents and the candidate’s antecedents/character.
(d) It is important to note that Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) are responsible only for recommending candidates to the Railway Administrations. The actual offer of appointment will be issued exclusively by the respective Railway Administrations.
